19.04.23 - The Meta AI research group released "Segment Anything", a really cool tool!
A few weeks ago, the Meta AI research group released "Segment Anything", a tool that's so cool that we really want to say something about!
It's a generic image segmentation model, trained on a huge dataset of 11 million images and 1.1 billion segmentation masks. The training dataset has also been released, along with an Open Access research paper, web demos and the predictor code (under permissive license). What else? Well, the code used for training the model hasn't been released.
The STDL has already performed some tests, which are quite promising. After Detectron2, released by the same Meta AI research group and used by the STDL since 2020, Segment Anything has great chances to be adopted in near future.
